What Happened To Those Girls? © 2002 Lon Jones
|
little girls are so inspired
warm and bright willow sticks on fire
young starlets brash and bold
love life at eight years old
they jump out of trees like jolly little tigers
they were all singers they were all dancers
they were clowns laughing at the world
they were all spinners they were all winners
they were cool what happened to those girls?
seventeen magazine kicks in
with the business of pleasing men
they were all singers they were all dancers
they were clowns laughing at the world
they were all play writers they were all sword fighters
they were cool what happened to those girls?
a storm grew up where the sun had shown
many hours were spent upon the phone
adolescence made em lazy
advertising drove em crazy
red moon rising found them all alone
they were all singers they were all dancers
they were clowns laughing at the world
they were all actors they could drive tractors
they were cool what happened to those girls?
