You’re Getting Sleepy © 2002 Lon Jones
you’re getting sleepy
your eyes are closing now
now you’re drifting
when you wake up
you will remember your dreams

sleep can come to us in many ways
many pillows where our heads can lay
working or mass producing babies
shopping or turning thirty

you’re getting sleepy
your eyes are closing now
now you’re drifting
when you wake up
you will remember your dreams

you’re in the dark you’re cozy and you’re fine
many blankets wrap around your mind
quilts of guilt and comforters of status
flannel fears on a credit card mattress

you’re getting sleepy
your eyes are closing now
now you’re drifting
when you wake up
you will remember your dreams

once you were awake you were getting somewhere
once you dreamed and ran amuck with crazy hair
left your dreams on some scary mountain top
as you became your mom and pop

you’re getting sleepy
your eyes are closing now
now you’re drifting
when you wake up
you will remember your dreams
